Botanics - stud earrings
Botanics is inspired by the landscape of the White Peaks. Each piece is handcrafted in my workshop using real leaves and flowers that I collect on my walks in Derbyshire.
To create these unique pieces, I carefully create moulds using the plants as soon as I get them home. I then use these moulds to cast the jewellery in fine silver. I work with precious metal clay which allows me to capture the intricate details of each leaf and flower.
To finish, I add touches of 24ct gold using the ancient Korean technique of Keum Boo. This gives a beautiful contrast to the silver.
Although I can create several pieces using the same mould, each one develops slightly differently - a slight change in relief, a delicate shift of the gold for example. So do bear this in mind when you receive your item.
If you cherish the outdoors and appreciate the beauty of the natural world, the Botanics collection is for you.

Sustainability
Silver metal clay is a sustainable medium. It is most often created from recycled silver particles, which minimizes the environmental impact of fresh mining. There is no waste when working with silver metal clay - every particle and speck of dust is collected and reconstituted into clay to be used again and again.
